Conducted at FRIM’s state-of-the-art facility in Kepong from November 14 to 16, 2023, the three-day training program immersed MZEC’s sales team in a nuanced exploration of wood and wood-based products. The curriculum aimed to provide participants with a holistic understanding of the science behind wood and its diverse industrial applications.
Guided by Dr Suffian Misran, Senior Research Officer and Dr Shahlinney Lipeh, Research Officer from the Forest Products Division and their team of experienced wood scientists, Dr Nordahlia Abdullah Siam, Dr Sik Huei Shing, Dr Tumirah Khadiran and Puan Nur Syahina Yahya; FRIM, a globally recognized authority in tropical forestry research since 1926, the training program provided a solid foundational understanding to the participants. Through a blend of instruction and practical sessions, they engaged in hands-on learning, live demonstrations, and gained access to cutting-edge facilities, ensuring a better understanding of wood and timber usage aligned with sustainable business practices.
Following the training facilitated by the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), MZEC Corporation’s sales team is now better positioned to articulate the general principles of wood and its applications, adeptly identify common wood species in Malaysia, and provide enhanced client service, elevating their role to that of informed consultants beyond traditional sales representation.
